Liza Koromila on getting ready for the Festival of Media Global Awards

Festival of Media Global Awards logoSocial Media Portal (SMP): What is your name and what do you do there at C Squared and Festival of Media Awards?

Liza Koromila (LK): I’m Liza Koromila, awards manager at C Squared.
I work for the Festival of Media Awards (APAC Global, LatAm, MENA) and M&M Global Awards as part of C Squared.
As the awards manager, my role consists of overseeing the day-by-day processes and logistics, managing client relationships and confirming the judging panels for our events. I am responsible for the output of the awards shows and I work closely with the marketing, production and logistics teams to ensure their flawless operation.

SMP: Briefly, tell us about the awards

LK: The Festival of Media Global Awards is the only awards dedicated to the evolution of media, celebrating the best in media thinking and communications across the world. Judged by a senior panel of agency heads and global and regional brand marketers, the awards is a prestigious event rewarding the very best work, helping the winning agencies and media owners win new business and increased influence in the marketplace.

Our audience are media, creative, ad tech, data, innovation, programmatic agencies as well as client companies with brilliant media campaigns!

SMP: They awards are going to be slightly different at the Festival of Media Global 18-20 May 2016?

LK: This year we wanted to integrate the awards into the conference agenda so we will be announcing the winners on Thursday, 19th May at 13.35 inside the venue (Rome Cavalieri). The Gold winners will be collecting their trophies on stage and the Grand Prix will be announced on the evening at the Festival of Media Global Awards Happy Hour from 18.30 onwards.

SMP: How can audiences keep up-to-date on what is happening?

LK: They can sign up to our newsletter to receive the latest news and follow us on social media @festivalofmedia. We also have the Festival of Media Global app but we would obviously encourage them to be there and find out in person!

SMP: What have the entries looked like this year?

LK: We were pleasantly surprised to see a big number of entries coming from Romania as well independent agencies. We hope all shortlisted entrants do well on the final judging round!

SMP: Why is the Festival of Media Global a great opportunity for entrants winning awards?

LK: Festival of Media Global Awards winners have the chance to include their win in their credentials and it’s a great way to motivate your team by being rewarded for your hard work!

SMP: What can entrants take away, apart from an award if they’re lucky?

There is an art in putting together award submissions – you might have a brilliant campaign but you also need to be a brilliant storyteller to describe it and convince a seasoned marketer how you succeeded in building your client’s brand.

SMP: What are the challenges that you’ve encountered and how are you overcoming them in what you have been doing so far?

LK: One of the challenges of working in the awards and events industry in general, is dealing with the unknown and having a ‘worst case scenario’ mentality. It requires focus on what is important, commitment and a determined and dedicated team.

SMP: Is there anything else you'd like to share?

LK: Keep up-to-date on the judges, shortlisted entries and the winners of course (announced Thursday, 19th May at 13.35 inside the venue (Rome Cavalieri), using the Festival of Media mobile app.
