Pinboard. Social bookmarking for introverts.
Pinboard is a bookmarking website for introverted people in a hurry.
The focus of the site is less on socializing, and more on speed and utility. The goals of the site, in order of priority, are:
- Don't lose data
- Be ridiculously fast
- Offer useful features
Users pay a one-time signup fee that goes up by a small amount with each new signup. In return, they get a fast, spam-free service and prompt support.
Pinboard also offers an archiving feature, at a cost of $25/year. Archival accounts will store a complete cached copy of every bookmark you save, and enable full-text search for your account, so you can search pages by content. (The one-time signup fee counts towards your first year's subscription.)
Fast, Minimal, Sustainable
The site removes as much of the friction as possible from bookmarking. Pinboard is faster than any other bookmarking site.
For users who choose the archiving option, Pinboard is the only site that stores and indexes full page content, not just HTML.
Since Pinboard is a small site, my customers can receive prompt support straight from me, the sole developer. And the site has a proven revenue model ('charge money for a product or service') that has kept the site profitable since launch, and insures Pinboard will be around as an independent project for years to come.
Pinboard founder encourages you to ask current users how they like the site on Twitter, or try some alternative bookmarking sites and see the difference for yourself. When it comes to fast, reliable, and durable bookmarking, you will not be disappointed in Pinboard.
