MySkip launches web application program Charity to Community Interface (CCI)

UK based social recycling website MySkip has today announced the launch of an application to assist charities during the economic downturn.

The web based application called Charity to Community Interface (CCI) enables charities to obtain donated items for their own use or to sell for fundraising purposes.  Donators can choose to give priority of their unwanted items to charity with the backup of it going to general release if unselected within 24 hours.

MySkip?s chief executive officer Gary Cope makes the point that many charities are facing increasing pressure to meet objectives with shrinking budgets.  He goes on to say, ?MySkip believes that by giving non-profits access to our community of donors, we are providing organisations with an alternative, yet guaranteed source of material donations thMySkip-logoey actually require.  The organisations can then either sell the items to fund their operations or give them away for free to their beneficiaries who are in desperate need of assistance.?

The MySkip site is integrated with mobile.  Donators are able to register their goods either via the website, or by texting a multi-media message (MMS) to short code 65005 at a cost of 50p excluding operator costs.  Interested persons can also reserve items via their mobile for a cost of £1.00GBP and receive alerts when products become available at a 25p cost.

MySkip claim that with the help of its community it has saved more than 117 tonnes of waste by recycling unwanted goods through the site; an amount equal to 539 tonnes of carbon emissions.
