Digital Media Pioneer Peter Naylor to Serve as First IAB Publisher-in-Residence

Former IAB Board Chairman & NBC Executive to Provide Thought Leadership and Share Critical Industry Insights in New Consulting Role

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With dynamic shifts underway across the digital marketing ecosystem, the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) has launched a Publisher-in-Residence program to capture and leverage the significant knowledge base and thought leadership of senior digital media executives. Industry veteran Peter Naylor has been named the first publishing executive to hold the position. In this new consulting role, Naylor will serve as a resource for IAB to better understand the most important challenges and opportunities facing digital publishers today.

?As an interactive publisher I appreciate the challenge of IAB member companies who are trying to diagnose exactly where they want to position their products and services in today?s dynamic market?

?Akin to Entrepreneur-in-Residence consulting roles at venture capital firms, we look to this new Publisher-in-Residence program as a way for IAB to get the inside track on what?s next for the interactive marketplace,? said Randall Rothenberg, President & CEO, IAB. ?Peter?s wealth of leadership experience, not to mention his longstanding commitment to IAB initiatives, makes him an incredibly valuable resource.?

?As an interactive publisher I appreciate the challenge of IAB member companies who are trying to diagnose exactly where they want to position their products and services in today?s dynamic market,? said Naylor. ?I hope to add value to the IAB and the member companies because I walk in their shoes and understand their challenges. It's a privilege to contribute my time helping the IAB and its members grow and succeed.?

Until recently, Naylor was the Executive Vice President of Sales for NBC News Digital, helming sales for NBCNews.com, MSNBC.com, CNBC.com, Today.com and iVillage.com. Prior to that, he oversaw advertising sales for the company?s entertainment and sports digital properties. While at NBC, Naylor led a number of innovative digital efforts including the launch of the Universal Audience Platform to monetize NBCU's advertising inventory through open and private exchanges; the creation of the NBCU Social TV Symposium; and the development and sale of charter advertising packages for the NBC/FOX joint venture in 2009 that would become Hulu.com.

Naylor was Chairman of the IAB Board of Directors from February 2012 through February 2013.

There are certain requirements to meet before a digital publishing executive in transition applies for the IAB Publisher-in-Residence program:

  • Must have served over a substantial time period of not less than one year in a major capacity on the IAB Board, such as on its executive committee
  • A former title of Senior Vice President, Executive Vice President or above
