Exclusive Interview with Irish Water and Post*Shift released

In the run up to SMi?s 5th annual conference on Social Media within the Utilities Sector, Richard Ó hEadhra, Channel Management and Analysis Specialist, Irish Water and Lee Bryant, Founder of Post*Shift, were asked a few questions regarding the conference and about the greatest challenges facing utility companies at the moment.

"... things are moving very quickly in this space. One of the simplest developments that has helped us greatly is the abolition of the character restriction on Twitter DM?s. This means there?s a greater chance of first contact resolution which leads to greater customer satisfaction. Also, I think video response to customers is going to be huge. Customers appreciate effort and developments in mobile and apps are setting things up to make this easier, Vine, Instagram and Periscope for example."

Lee Bryant answered

"I think the biggest long-term challenge is what used to be called 'teaching elephants to dance? and so for me, it is the applicability of social media, tools and networks to the need for agile  transformation in a sector dominated by old-style bureaucratic structures."
