gogo6 Introduces DS-lite Service on Freenet6

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--gogo6 inc., the leading provider of IPv6 products, community and services, today announced it has added a DS-lite beta service to Freenet6. Freenet6?s connectivity services are provided to gogoNET?s members so they can create and gain hands-on experience with live IPv6 networks.

?gogo6 is supporting DS-lite because in our experience the standard dual stack, tunneling and translation transition mechanisms will not be enough to migrate networks to IPv6 when IPv4 addresses run out?

DS-lite is the latest IPv6 transition mechanism defined by the IETF. It is unique in that it enables operators to provide IPv4 to their customers even after the IPv4 address pool has been depleted. DS-lite combines a large scale NAT and stateless tunneling over an IPv6 infrastructure allowing operators to reduce their dependency on IPv4 by rolling out IPv6 without requiring home users to leave IPv4.

Freenet6 now includes four services for IPv6 professionals:

• DS-lite ? IPv4 connectivity over an IPv6 infrastructure with shared IPv4 addresses.
• Tunnel ? IPv6 connectivity over an IPv4 infrastructure.
• DSTM ? IPv4 connectivity over an IPv6 infrastructure.
• Home Access ? Easy access to private IPv4 networks over the IPv4 Internet via IPv6 for home NAT traversal.
