On The Edge Birmingham: Get the full lowdown on the Driving Change Through Innovation event with Simon Lewis
Social Media Portal (SMP): What is your name and what do you do there at On The Edge Digital? Simon Lewis (SL): I'm Simon Lewis, co-founder and sponsorship and events producer.
SMP: Briefly, tell us about On The Edge Birmingham what is it and what does the event strive to do? SL: The event is a speaker-led one-day interactive marketing conference, underpinned by peer-to-peer networking and collaborative discussion-based learning.
SMP: What is the event officially entitled and why have you called it this?
SL: Driving Change Through Innovation is the official title, which neatly highlights where marketing is right now, with technological advances and digital transformations marrying creativity for the production of radically advancing changes.
SMP: Who are your target audience and why? SL: Senior client-side marketers from companies throughout the Midlands and beyond. Birmingham is a networking hub and whilst most of our events are London-based, it?s always good to explore outside of that hub. This event is exclusive to client-side marketers because we find the collaborative involvement works best with non-competing brands.
SMP: How many brands (and agencies) will be presenting, what are they and why have they been chosen? SL: We have four brands and two agencies speaking. Over the years we?ve found this split offers the best mix of varied and innovative case study presentations and instantly actionable hints and tips advice. All speaker presentations have been chose for their diversity in knowledge, market awareness and ability to engage what is always a lively audience.
SMP: How long has the On The Edge Birmingham event been going and what makes it different? SL: This will be the fourth incarnation of OTE Birmingham and what makes it different is the audience participation, which we have always found to be second-to-none. We?ve got a great venue this year, too, so we anticipate a lively, interactive and fun learning and sharing experience.
SMP: What should delegates expect to learn and take away at On The Edge Birmingham?
SL: The speaker topics cover marketing agility, content collaboration, digital engagement, transformation and innovation and what today?s marketing professional will look like tomorrow and how businesses need to embrace these changes. And that?s just the speakers. Additional learning comes from the discussion groups and peer-to-peer networking.
SMP: How can delegates get involved pre, during and post event?
SL: Aside from the obvious tweeting hashtag
#edgebrum we have discussions and interviews with the speakers running though our LinkedIn group (search UK Marketing Network). Members of this group benefit from discounted tickets to our events.
SMP: What do you think is going to be the most interesting aspect regarding content marketing for the next 12 to 18-months and why? SL: The rise of video, in all its various forms. Consumers are beginning to understand the benefits not only of producing video content but what to do with it and which channels to push it through. Video and mobile is a winning combo.
SMP: Is there anything else we should know, or is there anything that you?d like to share?
SL: We always sell out at out Birmingham event so if you?re a senior marketing professional looking to build tangible business contacts whilst learning from some truly fantastic speakers, book your ticket today.
SMP: Best way to contact you and the On The Edge Birmingham event 2015? SL: In the first instance it?s best to contact Tessa in the marketing team on

SMP: What?s the last good thing that you did for someone? SL: Whilst camping recently I sucked a wasp sting from the foot of my friend?s son.
SMP: If you weren?t working at On The Edge Birmingham what would you be doing? SL: If I didn?t work for my company now I?d have sold it so would most likely be sipping a Mojito on the beach somewhere.
SMP: When / where did you go on your last holiday and why? SL: Last week I went to Sussex camping (see above) with my sons and a whole group of mates and respective children. Why? Because the kids love it!

SMP: If you had a superpower what would it be and why (I am really hoping that you don?t say flying, but we?ll see)?
SL: If the ability to see into the future counts, then that. I?d clean up at the bookies and never have to work. Otherwise, flying ☺
