Digital Business World Congress logo 150x150Social Media Portal (SMP): What is your name and what do you do there for the Digital Business World Congress (DES2017)?

Lluis Altes (LA): My name is Lluis Altes and I?m the strategy director at DES - Digital Business World Congress where I?m leading the strategy and content side.

SMP: Briefly, tell us about Digital Business World Congress (DES2017)

LA: DES - Digital Business World Congress is the place to be if you want to have a holistic view of what is going on in the digital business world, what is helping organizations to succeed nowadays. Madrid (Spain) is the physical meeting point once a year, then we continue the conversation in the digital world for the remaining 51 weeks.

This is not just about technologies that will shape the future, but about people who leads the transformation in all kind of roles, in their industries and about identifying the most inspirational success stories and who are their partners. We combine thought leadership with a lot of realities because we do think that adapting is an urgent issue for most of organisations.

SMP: How long has the event been going and why it is needed for the sector?

LA: 2017 had been the second edition, so is a young, but strong three-days international event around digital business and new economy, which gather experience and success stories with knowledge to inspire everybody. Our visitors can listen to the trends that are going to change and shape the world (like AI, Blockchain, IoT and so on); share time, opinions and business views with the most relevant companies in fields like technology, marketing, talent, innovation, banking, retail, industry 4.0; and with all this they come back to work with a new vision of the market and a renewed sense of urgency.

SMP: Who were your target audience and why?

LA: We have a clear focus on senior management of midsize and large corporations. This is the reason why DES - Digital Business World Congress has a mixed audience made of: CEOs, CMOs, CHROs, CIOs, CTOs and so on.

SMP: When was the Digital Business World Congress (DES2017) and where was it held?

LA: It was celebrated during the 23, 24, and 25 of May in Madrid (Spain).
Everybody must mark the diaries for next year edition: 22, 23 and 24, May 2018.

SMP: Who were the main guest speakers and keynotes?

LA: Alex Tapscott who gave a master class about Blockchain and how it is going to change the world; Susan Fonseca  who participated in the event speaking about how we can use technology to change the world and how is changing, for example, the education system; David Shingwho encourage the audience to go one step ahead from innovation to revolution; or Anders Indset who spoke with the visitors about how to change the way they think to be more disruptive and get new and higher goals.

SMP: What do you hope delegates have taken away from the event?

LA: A global vision from the digital transformation process and a deep understanding of what this really means for their organizations. A new way for leading their companies and employees in a new digital world, where data is the key to remain relevant. We hope that our attendees fulfilled their inspiration need and could have many trends and information takeaways to think about and to apply.

SMP: What were the challenges you saw discussed at the Digital Business World Congress (DES2017)?

LA: How we can access and use data and information about market and customers, the role of compliance in a change period and of course after the latest cybersecurity events, about how to protect this information from cyber-threats. Also, we discussed about how people and jobs are changing and how companies have to adapt their recruiting process to get the best talent and hold it. During the keynotes, we saw conferences about blockchain, cognitive intelligence and how are they changing business and society, what it?s coming.

SMP: What are the high moments of what you have been doing so far?

LA: If I have to choose one, maybe it was the gala dinner of our European Digital Mindset Awards which recognise success stories, digitalisation projects and leaders, journalistic papers and the most disruptive start up. There, we had the opportunity to know about real projects which are currently innovating and changing into a digital economy.

SMP: Best way to contact you and Digital Business World Congress (DES2017)?

LA: By email at info@des-madrid.com

SMP: How can stakeholders (advertisers, exhibitors, guest speakers, sponsors etc.,) get involved for the next event?

Now some questions for fun

SMP: What was on the menu at the event?

LA: Not an easy question during that hectic days of the show. One that impacted me was the menu designed by chef Joaquin Felipe Peira for the European Mindset Awards Gala Dinner celebrated at Florida Retiro.

SMP: Share a good thing you did for someone at the event?

LA: We did many, for instance to run a debate on how to exponentially improve the world with Susan Fonseca, Daniel Newman, Frederique Murphy and Javier Sirvent.

SMP: What was the first thing you did when you got in to the office after the event?

LA: I?ve not been in the office yet. But working from home for some days has given me room to digest all the feedback received, to confirm some speakers for DES2018 and to define the structure of an augmented edition.

SMP: If you had an event superpower what would it be and why?

LA: Omnipresence or ubiquity, it is the only way to be able to chat a bit with all these gorgeous speakers that we have on stage during the three days of the show. We prepare everything during the year and it is totally impossible to meet and greet with 400+ people while managing the show and dealing with last minute issues.
