New social networking site
Trugo (
http://www.trugo.com) offers $100,000 USD in college tuition fees for contest winners to kick-start its launch.
The contest calls for US college students to submit a four minute video explaining why Trugo should pay their tuition. The contest launched this week with a national campus tour and live demonstrations of the Trugo website.
Entrants are encouraged to describe their future career aspirations in the video, in addition to why they are worthy of the first place prize of $30,000 in tuition fees. The winners will be voted on by the Trugo community and based on relevance to the competition theme, creativity and originality.
"College should be about learning, growing and socializing, not about worrying about how to pay your tuition," said Chandrasekar, Trugo's CEO and founder. "I was given a similar opportunity to express my creativity earlier in my life and it led me to found my first company. There is no reason a contest such as ours couldn't have the same impact on one of our future community members."
Trugo allows members a higher level of profile customisation and the ability to expand video content, by allowing users to share videos from
YouTube,
Google Video and
Metacafe.
Prizes, payable in tuition fees include:1st Prize: $30,000
2nd Prize: $20,000
3rd Prize: $5,000
4th to 10th Prize: $5,000 each
Contestents must register on Trugo (
http://www.trugo.com), and submit their video on or before January 15th 2008. Winners will be announced January 30, 2008.
