Pluck announced on Wednesday that it will integrate its social media platform Pluck SiteLife with both Facebook and
OpenSocial APIs in order to better connect the media and its audience.
SiteLife will allow users to share their contributions on some of the world's top media properties, such as Gannett, Reuters, The Washington Post and The Economist with their friends.
Peter Lundquist, vice president of content and product development at Gannett Digital believes SiteLife will help increase participation and attract new users. ?Integrating the value of our timely and trusted news content and the social media contributions generated by our readership with social networking audiences represents the future of media on the web.?
SiteLife includes a comprehensive set of capabilities for blogs, story comments, photo and video submissions, forums, ratings, recommendations and reviews, all tied together with social networking via user Personas. When a user comments on an article on say, Reuters website their
Facebook profile will be updated with a news feed to update their friends and encourage them to participate.
SiteLife integration will not be available to Pluck Customers, which includes over 200 large media properties until Q1 in 2008. Google's OpenSocial integration will not be supported until half way through next year.
Google announced the release of OpenSocial on 01 November 2007, which will be implemented accross social networks such as
MySpace, Bebo, Friendster, hi5, LinkedIn and Ning.
Earlier in the week MySpace announced plans to implement a
Facebook-styled news feed for users within the next 45 days.
