A new language networking site has officially launched today.
VoxSwap, founded by freelance UK journalist Sean Hargrave and his wife Nicole, with the aim of connecting millions of people around the world who have an interest in learning or improving their.
The site features internal email, chat and a discussion board, in addition to a virtual keyboard ? which allows people to add characters and accents that are foreign to their keyboards.
Hargrave comments, ?I am convinced social networking is here to stay but it needs to have a point. That?s why I decided to launch a social network site that will help people learn or practise a foreign language so everybody benefits. I couldn?t find the site I was looking for, so I decided to build it.?
VoxSwaps faces stiff competition from long established players such as
FriendsAbroad who according to their website have millions of users in over 200 countries ? although they have struggled to monetize their site as yet. FriendsAbroad won the
Yahoo! finds of the year under the education category for 2007.
