The investment by Time Warner will allow Gaia to upgrade the site.  Gaia's CEO Craig Sherman comments, "We've been able to develop a compelling user experience that keeps teens coming back, but there is no shortage of things for us to work on. In the coming months we will continue to invest in the community by adding new features and functionality that our users have been asking for."

Gaia Online has approximately three million unique users every month, and over one billion posts on the Gaia discussion board.

Rachel Lam, senior vice president at Time Warner Investments says, "We view Gaia Online as a company with a bright future and are excited to be able to help them continue their evolution as a busines. We have been impressed by their growing and extremely loyal user base and the low barrier to entry. It is also clear the management team has a solid understanding of who their users are and is squarely-focused on delivering a unique experience that will be appealing to that group without compromise."

In December 2007, Gaia announced a strategic partnership with Warner Bros, a business of Time Warner.  The deal will see Warner Bros. films be made available to Gaia's community through a virtual cinema.  The films will be available in both free and paid versions.

The sum of the investment was not disclosed.
