Popular teen hangout
Gaia Online has today
launched a new application that connects their virtual world with one of the World's most popular social networks, Facebook.
The Gaia
OMG widget for Facebook doubles as a miniature version of the Gaia environment and allows users to chat with friends, earn Gaia currency and more.
The launch in Facebook follows a successful beginning for Gaia
OMG in Bebo, the most popular social networking site in the United Kingdom. It quickly became one of the most popular Bebo applications, and at the time of writing had over 115,000 profile views.
Craig Sherman, chief executive officer for Gaia Online says that there are similar tools for other online communities are being built. He says, "Gaia and social networks are similar in that they are places that empower users to self express and connect with friends, so bridging the two is a logical next step in the evolution of the Internet. We're not stopping here either, there are several other popular social networks out there and we're building new features that will enable Gaia to be everywhere teens are online."
Less than one week ago, Gaia Online received an
un-disclosed investment from Time Warner, Inc.
