The world?s largest distributors of widgets has closed its
series B funding, after raising $8 million USD from
Sequoia Capital,
Hummer Winblad Venture Partners,
NCD Investors and Michael Dearing (a private investor).
The influx of capital will allow Widgetbox to further develop their DevShare program (a revenue share initiative between Widgetbox and application developers) and continue to expand on their existing base of products and services.
Jim Goetz of Sequoia Capital comments, ?Widgetbox and its community are building this business one widget at a time, one domain at a time. Widgetbox?s success shows a distributed community of developers and users is a powerful part of the widget ecosystem.?
Widgetbox currently has a developer base of over 26,000 and provides more than 15 per cent and 60 per cent of Facebook and Bebo applications respectively.
