As the use of social media
spreads, private individuals are increasingly concerned with giving a
professional feel to the online content they create. The organisers of the upcoming BlogWorld
& New Media Expo,
a tradeshow, conference and media event dedicated to promoting the dynamic
industry of blogging and new media, have decided to address this issue with a professional
training certificate workshop, which aims to teach bloggers professional
journalistic research and writing techniques.
Each session will be
devoted to a specific topic. The areas
covered include journalism content and style tips, information research and
selection, legal issues related to blogging and how to attract the attention of
professional journalists. Attendees will be delivered an official
BlogWorld "blogger journalist" certification and Web icon, an
offering the press release says will convey greater credibility and better
brand differentiation.
BlogWorld Expo founder Rick
Calvert describes the object of the initiative as helping individuals to make
their presence felt in the blogosphere, commenting that, "We created this
workshop in partnership with Dr. David Perlmutter to help the independent
blogger break into this saturated market and find success - whether that's
building readership, getting attention from major bloggers and the mass media,
becoming a profitable small business, or even influencing public opinion, the
press agenda, and government policy".
The workshop is hosted and
organised by David D. Perlmutter, Ph.D, a professor at the William Allen White School of Journalism & Mass
Communications, University of Kansas.
It will be held alongside BlogWorld Expo's Executive & Entrepreneur
Conference on September 19th at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
