Trails.com?s parent company Demand Media, the new version aims
The applications on offer
include interactive ?Browse by Map? feature to help users plan their treks in
advance, trail summaries, trail photos, trail reviews, weather data and nearby
accommodations. These features will all
be freely available to all visitors.
Premium content, consisting in more highly detailed trail guides for
over 43,000 trails and unlimited topography maps for the entire United States, will remain accessible to paid
subscribers only.
Expanded social interaction
functionalities driven by Pluck SiteLife social media tools enable members to
connect and share experiences, upload trail photos, create user profiles, and
track favourite routes, places and activities via an intuitive dashboard. A new, annually updated Top Trails list
accessible from the homepage can be filtered to display users? favourite trails
by type of activity or by state.
General manager of
Trails.com Ken Clark rests his confidence that the new features will be
favourably received on the grounds that they are being rolled out in response
to popular demand, saying that ?We listened to our community and, leveraging
our Pluck technology team, built applications that we know our community wants
and will use regularly. We expect the

community of 1.3 million members and a 43% yearly increase in traffic, Trails.com
