The MAMA Group plc has today announced the launch of the new Surfstock website ahead of the two day Surfstock Festival this weekend (29 to 30 August 2008). Through the new website, Surfstock is looking to become a popular online destination for the surfing community within the UK.
Surfstock.co.uk, which was built by Estonian based content management system (CMS) company
Modera, has launched social networking aspects to the website in order to build the community and create website stickiness.
Surfstock?s festival director, Alec Short comments, "The new Surfstock website has been built by Modera in such a way that it creates longevity far beyond the two-day festival. Surfstock.co.uk will continue to grow after the festival, and will serve as the place to go for updates on what's going on in surfing within the country.?
Before and after the festival, important information for surfers such as
weather and tidal information is available either on the website or through a weather widget that can be plugged in to a users own website, blog or social networking site.
The website also features YouTube videos, RSS feeds, online voting and a community section called The Green Room. Neil Cartwright, managing director at
Million Media who project managed the site build says, "Through permanent features such as Beaches, Surfcast, Events, Surf Awards and The Green Room where they can interact with other likeminded surfers, both casual and professional surfers will now be able to have up to date and dedicated information that's important for them."
The Surfstock Festival will feature
popular bands such as Alphabeat, The Gossip and The Heavy. E-commerce functionality to cater for ticket-sales has been build into the website, and festival-goers are also able
to vote or their favourite 'Local Hero' band ahead of the festival.
