News Corporation?s social networking site MySpace has announced a new MySpace Mobile application for Google?s just released Android handset.

MySpace?s vice president and general manager of MySpace Mobile, John Faith, says that the new Android integration will be popular with MySpace users who regularly visit the site on their mobile phone.  He says, ?We want to ensure that all users have access to their global MySpace network while they?re on-the-go, and we believe Android is a natural fit for an optimised MySpace Mobile experience.?

Android users visiting MySpace?s mobile social network will have the ability to upload photos directly from the handset, view and comment on photos and profiles, find new friends, send and receive messages, update their mood and status and keep up to date with their favourite music bands.

Through an exclusive partnership with mobile music provider Shazam, Android-using-MySpacers will have the ability to discover new music by connecting to their MySpace profile and holding the phone towards the unknown song.  Shazam?s chief executive officer Andrew Fisher comments, ?We are excited about this collaboration.  It allows users to discover music at the point of inspiration and benefit from MySpace?s unique and rich content.?

Faith continues, ?Music is such a huge part of people?s lives and has the capacity to bring people together, particularly in a mobile social networking environment.  MySpace?s rich mobile social networking functionality integrates with Shazam, allowing users to get significantly more out of their music experiences, wherever they are.?

Shazam as simultaneously launched their mobile application for Android, which in addition to the MySpace integration, allows users to purchase individual tracks through Amazon?s MP3 store ? this service is already available for iPhone users.

The MySpace mobile social network is also available on Apple?s iPhone and the Motorola Sidekick, with a Blackberry application soon to be released.
