Scion sponsor Kongregate?s search for new online game developers
Online games website Kongregate launch Kongregate Labs and run eight week sponsorship with car brand Scion
Online games website Kongregate has launched a new initiative it hopes will inspire existing and upcoming viral game developers to create new content. In addition to providing the tools and assets for creating original games,
Kongregate Labs will provide step-by-step tutorials and the means for peer support through dedicated chat and discussion board functionality.
Kongregate?s chief executive officer Jim Greer says that the initiative will open up new possibilities for game creation and aspiring developers. He comments, ?Our
goal is to demystify game development for first-time creators, offering them everything they need to know to express themselves, and to develop great games to share with our community, as well as profit from them.? Kongregate shares a percentage of ad-revenue with developers.
The two year old company also announces a new sponsorship agreement with car brand
Scion. The promotion will see Scion become the sole sponsor of Kongregate Labs over the next eight weeks which will sit alongside a competition to find the best new indie game creators ? as determined from the community of players and developers.
?Our tightly-knit community of players ? predominately males age 18-24 ? provides an ideal vehicle for brands like Scion who want to engage with their target audience in an innovative, but tangible and effective way,? says Kongregate?s chief revenue officer Lee Uniacke.
Kongregate reports its unique monthly visitors to be in excess of over 4.5 million, with over 8.000 games from 3,000 developers around the world.
