US President Barack Obama posts election night photos on Flickr
President-elect Barack Obama bypasses traditional media to post election night photos on Flickr
The next President of the United States,
Barack Obama, firmly embraced social media throughout his 21 month long campaign and has posted intimate photos of election night on 04 November 2008 on the Yahoo! owned Flickr.
Bypassing traditional media outlets, Obama has uploaded
82 intimate backstage photographs to the popular photo sharing site. The images, which were uploaded shortly following the 44th US President?s acceptance speech, show a visual timeline of Barack Obama with family, friends and colleagues ? including Vice President-elect Joe Biden - during the course of the historic evening.
The photos range from the Obama family huddled around to the television to watch Republican nominee John McCain?s concessional speech, to Obama relaxing on the couch with his feet on the coffee table to the family making the way from their private quarters to the one million strong Obama-supporting crowd for his acceptance speech.
Comments have been left open on Barack Obama?s Flickr account, allowing supports worldwide to leave messages of support ? which they have done in their thousands. The photo gallery has been viewed over 100,000 times.
