Winner of YouTube?s Project Direct to be screened at Sundance Film Festival

YouTube has made an open call on its official blog for short film-makers to enter its annual Project Direct competition.
This years? Project Direct sees YouTube partner with AOL Moviefone and The Sundance Festival, the winner of the competition will attend
Sundance in 2009 and have their film shown live in addition to meeting the festival director of programming, receiving $2,500 USD and having the film broadcast on the YouTube homepage.
To be eligible to enter
Project Direct, film-makers must ensure their short is under 5 minutes in length and that it incorporates props relating to the competition partners; a red phone and their choice of two of a pre-set list of 25 ? whilst not showing any brand names or specific products. The 25 props are, ?props that have played stand-out roles in some of the most memorable films to emerge from the Sundance Film Festival over the past 25 years.? Props include a beehive hairdo, an orange thong, a severed ear, a bunny suit and an instant photo.
Film-makers can submit their film via the YouTube website from 16 November until 14 December 2008, from which point a panel of Sundance executives will whittle the submissions down to the top ten. The YouTube community will then be invited to vote for the winning film from 27 December.
The competition is officially open to entrants in the US, Canada, Brazil, UK, Spain, Italy and France. The top three films will win cash prizes and have their film distributed on DVD industry executives at the Sundance Film Festival.
