Bebo offer year free hosting for application developers
Social network Bebo partners Joyent and Sun to entice application developers
Popular youth-orientated social network Bebo, has today
announced a partnership with Sun and Joyent to offer application developers one year free application hosting.
With the multi-company partnership, Bebo are hoping to entice new application developers by taking away the cost of serving an application across a popular social networking site. The twelve months free hosting is offered via the way of Joyent?s cloud computing-based AcceleratorTM.
The announcement, made today on Bebo?s official blog, comments, ?We know that developing apps for major social networks can be hard on your servers, especially if your app is an overnight sensation. Our partnership with Joyent and Sun will help to alleviate this issue and allow you to focus on the important things? like feature development!?
Application developers looking to join the Bebo network can sign up for an account with Joyent, who will process the free hosting account within 24 hours of joining.
The offer follows Bebo?s
developer night conference in Mountain View, California on 11 November 2008. The DevNight aimed to introduce Bebo application developers to new and upcoming features of the platform, speak directly with Bebo engineers and see demonstrations from companies such as Sun Microsystems, Dash as well as making an open call on their blog for new developers to demonstrate their applications on the night.
On 24 October 2008, Bebo
announced that they understood their platform stability had been an issue and were working hard to resolve all the issues.
