MySpace user to attend WEF?s Davos as special correspondent
The Wall Street Journal and World Economic Forum partner with MySpace for citizen journalist competition
MySpace, has today announced a
new initiative in partnership with The Wall Street Journal and the
World Economic Forum (WEF) to find a citizen journalist to attend and cover WEF?s Davos.
The ?MySpace Journal? competition will appoint a special correspondent, as chosen by an expert panel. The MySpace correspondent will join the press contingency at Davos to report on news from the conference and conduct interviews with world leaders for the MySpace community.
MySpace?s co-founder and chief executive officer Chris DeWolfe comments that the MySpace Journal competition is an opportunity of a lifetime. ?(The winner will have) access to the most prestigious conference in the world during one of the most critical and historical moments in time. Davos brings together thought leaders from around the globe to focus on solutions to the problems we face on an international level and we are thrilled that MySpace can serve as a platform for users all over the world to explore, connect and communicate about these important issues.?
Person?s interested in entering the
MySpace Journal competition are asked to upload a video to the microsite, explaining why they should be chosen to represent the MySpace community at Davos. They will also be asked to answer an additional question, such as what living or historical figure they would take with them or what they would do to encourage the MySpace community to make an economic difference.
The video submissions will be reviewed and the winner chosen by a MySpace selected panel which includes WEF?s head of communications Mark Adams, co-founder of
The Huffington Post Arianna Huffington, political correspondent Frank Luntz and MySpace?s DeWolfe.
Adams remarks, ?Over the past five years the World Economic Forum has opened its doors to bloggers and has been active on social media platforms. Therefore we are particularly pleased to welcome a citizen reporter from the MySpace community to report from the Annual Meeting in Davos."
The MySpace user appointed as the winner will submit daily blogs and bulletins that journal their experience, which in turn will be syndicated through
The Wall Street Journal?s website in addition to the MySpace Journal page.
