Qik announce mobile video integration with Facebook
Live video streaming service Qik roll out Facebook Connect integration for video upload
Live mobile to web video streaming service Qik has
unveiled the ability for the Qik community to upload their Qik videos directly from their mobile handset to their Facebook account.
The start-up claims to be the first mobile video service to use
Facebook Connect, the social network's second generation application platform, to integrate video uploading. Once a Qik user has streamed their video live using their mobile phone and the Qik application, the video is instantly uploaded to their Facebook profile. Once on Facebook, users can tag, share and comment on the videos in addition to updating their status and posting on their wall with the Qik video link.
Qik spokesperson Lauren Batty comments, ?You?ve been able to upload pictures directly from your mobile device to Facebook for a while now. So why shouldn?t you be able to do the same with your Qik videos? Now you can! Upload your Qik videos directly to your Facebook video collection where you can tag, share and comment. You can also update your Facebook status with a link to your video when you?re streaming live, auto log-in to Qik when connected to Facebook? and more.?
By adding Facebook as a network via their Qik profile, users can customise how the Facebook integration works, such as checking the box for status and wall automatic updates. If this box is checked, the Facebook status will be updated with the title of the video and a link to view it. If the user has not named the video, the Facebook status update will not be updated.
Qik users have control over which videos they choose to send to Facebook, ?If you don't want to upload all your videos to Facebook, you can selectively trigger which ones to upload from your phone through the "Share" menu. This feature is currently available on all Windows Mobile non-touch smartphones and will be available on all our other supported devices soon.?
Other features of the integration with Facebook Connect include auto-login to Qik when a user is logged into Facebook, ability to publish comments left on Qik to a users Facebook profile and encouragement to post a story to a users Facebook newsfeed when following a new Qik user.
Qik?s
