MTV Networks has announced that visitors to its group of sites, including Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and MTV will have social media functionality for users to login and share content more easily.

The social media functionality has been implemented by platform management company Janrain, which currently supports identity verification on sites such as Facebook, Google, Twitter, Yahoo! and PayPal.

MTV Network?s vice president and head of social media product development T.J. Marchetti comments, ?MTV Networks? brands ? from Comedy Central to Nickelodeon to MTV ? create the kind of content that sparks conversations across the world?s social networks.  Janrain?s authentication and social publishing tools allow our users to quickly and easily engage with their friends on our sites, as well as third-party networks, around their favourite content.?

The social login and sharing across its network sites will enable visitors to quickly and easily login, add comments, and with social network integration they will be able to share articles and videos with friends across Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo! and Myspace.

Janrain?s chief executive officer Larry Drebes says, ?Entertainment companies are a perfect fit with Janrain Engage because users can easily share their favourite dynamic content with friends in their social graph.  MTV Networks will now be able to better connect their network of websites with their users? Facebook accounts, improving the user experience while at the same time capturing more accurate information about their audience.?

MTV will implement social sharing and login across additional sites in 2011.
