Topman to launch high end Topman Ltd range
Topman unveil new high end range Topman Ltd on Topman.com and in 10 stores worldwide
London, UK Autumn / Winter 2009 sees the launch of Topman Ltd, a new concept from the Topman in-house design team which will deliver sophisticated, luxury collections with an emphasis on design, detail, fabric and finish.
The original brief, given to the team by Gordon Richardson, was to take a familiar Topman seasonal piece and design it in a way that they would choose to, should the normal restraints not be in place. A free-range project with the intent to deliver pieces to a Topman customer who's wardrobe ethos works on the basis of transitional pieces rather than disposable catwalk trends.
"Ltd is like the design teams very own solo album consisting of the kind of garments we all like to wear. With a simple paired down aesthetic these are familiar pieces within main range but have a more discreet style and subsequent fashion longevity. Designed as complete collections with distinct themes throughout the season, they can be bought as complete outfits or to mix in with an existing wardrobe," explains Gordon Richardson, Topman Design Director.
Ltd will officially launch in September with its first trend, Soiree in 10 UK and international Topman stores* as well as online at
Topman.com. The second trend for the season, Rutger, will arrive in stores in mid-November.
SoireeSoiree exudes luxury, with opulent clothes reflecting opulent interiors, bringing eveningwear into daytime with a feel of old world gentry that has been handed down through the generations. Deep burgundy tipped suits are teamed with printed silk shirt and tie combos, grid print check shirts are worn with mélange knit blazers and preppy specs. Loose knit cardigans are tied over silk shirts paired with a slim line trouser and velvet appliquéd slippers. For the finishing touch add a simple silk neck tie or for a more opulent look choose a crushed velvet tasseled scarf.
RutgerWith elements of science fiction and film noir, Rutger is a black on black power silhouette story inspired by the 1980's film, Bladerunner. Sharp tailoring and ergonomic outerwear represent an eighties vision of the future. Metallic yarn jumpers are worn over silk shirts, mini collared shirts are worn with zip detail hoodies, and charcoal jumpsuits can be twinned with a simple t-shirt or layered up with an asymmetric patchwork jumper teamed with chunky biker boots. Wool raglan sleeved coats are layered over slim line suiting. Complete the aesthetic with a leather barrel bag and high sheen metal buckle belt.
