Sorenson Media logoSAN DIEGO & OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sorenson Media and ProKarma Interactive today announced at the Streaming Media East 2010 conference that the two companies have entered a strategic technology partnership. The partnership leverages ProKarma Interactive?s competitive advantage in platform-agnostic mobile development and Sorenson Media?s unique end-to-end video delivery capability to develop high-quality, custom video applications that work seamlessly on any major mobile platform.

?We chose to partner with Sorenson Media of all the players in the online video platform industry because of the company?s proven expertise and unique ability to optimize its video delivery technology for all technology platforms?

As an example of the capabilities of this partnership, Sorenson Media and ProKarma Interactive have developed Sorenson Smash, a customizable iPad app the companies are demonstrating at the conference in New York City this week. Built on the Sorenson 360 online video platform (OVP), Sorenson Smash enables users to easily manage video assets by dragging and dropping them into separate folders and create custom playlists for delivery and viewing on the iPad. The app also supports featured text, banner advertisements, third-party ad network integration, and pre-, post- or overlay advertising. The app also serves as a channel, which can be submitted to Apple iTunes. Sorenson 360 provides customers the industry?s highest video quality and ease of use, including intelligent embed codes that provide native mobile support for mobile devices, including Apple iPhone, iPod and iPad. Sorenson Media released version 2 of Sorenson 360 built for enterprise users May 11 at Streaming Media East.

?We chose to partner with Sorenson Media of all the players in the online video platform industry because of the company?s proven expertise and unique ability to optimize its video delivery technology for all technology platforms,? said Jeff Porter, vice president of ProKarma Interactive. ?This partnership represents a fusion of two of the most important and expanding sectors in the larger tech marketplace?the video delivery and mobile ecosystems?and will service the accelerating demand from companies in essentially all industries.?

ProKarma, which ranked first among U.S. IT services companies on the 2009 Inc. 500 list and 11th overall, is a leading developer of custom solutions for the world-wide mobile marketplace, with offices in the U.S. and India. The company?s robust modular content delivery and transaction platforms enable mobile customers to easily deliver new features and functionality for any mobile device?including Android, Apple, Blackberry, JAVA ME, Palm WebOS, SMS/Messaging, Windows and xHTML/HTML5. The company?s mobile client frameworks are designed to enable customers to deliver a unique and differentiated consumer experience quickly as new devices become available.
