Acclaimed Film Critic, Richard Roeper, Predicts "The Social Network" a Surefire Oscar Contender
Roeper Invokes "Citizen Cane" in Latest Review
CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire) - Renowned film critic
and Chicago Sun-Times columnist, Richard Roeper, gives "The Social
Network" an A+ rating, calling this story of the birth of Facebook "the
Citizen Kane of modern social media movies."
"From its opening scene featuring a brilliant undergrad
digging himself deeper and deeper with a girlfriend who has no choice
but to leave this guy, 'The Social Network' is an electric, mesmerizing
movie that never strikes a wrong note," said Roeper. "It's a surefire
Oscar contender. I give it an A+."
In his review at www.richardroeper.com,
Roeper declares that Jesse Eisenberg is perfectly cast as Facebook
founder, Mark Zuckerberg. He says that the outstanding supporting cast
includes Justin Timberlake as Napster whiz Sean Parker, who infiltrates
and divides the original team and, in a small but pivotal role, Rooney
Mara as the girl who dumps Zuckerberg. Despite an impressive cast,
Roeper attributes the film's success to its script and direction.
"Working from an Oscar-worthy script by Aaron Sorkin, the
brilliant director David Fincher delivers one of his most
straightforward and one of his best movies," adds Roeper.
