New Analytic Capability from LexisNexis PatentOptimizer Uncovers
Insights across Patent Portfolios
Innovative technology enables faster, more complete assessments for
IP professionals
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LexisNexis, a leading global provider of content-enabled workflow
solutions, today announced the introduction of an innovative new
capability to its LexisNexis® PatentOptimizer? product
that provides attorneys and in-house counsel with the ability to quickly
obtain deep insight into important common threads in patent portfolios
or answer sets.
?Ultimately, this means faster, more complete and sound
decision making for users as they consider the best course of action for
their IP issues and an overall improvement in practice efficiency.?
The new PatentOptimizer Analytics tool allows customers to
rapidly identify detailed aspects of entire patent portfolios to uncover
critical data intersections, hidden trends, aggregate parts and elements
nomenclature, and ranked language variations, among other criteria.
This capability allows legal professionals to analyze specific clusters
of patent records at a detailed level, enabling them to prospect for new
business, identify prolific players and language trends, compare
portfolios at a very detailed level, and establish conceptual baselines
for real-world prosecution and litigation.
The new tool also empowers users to perform substantive statistical
analysis of the claims contained in a large patent portfolio ? including
FTO (Freedom to Operate) Analysis ? and locate specific real world
synonyms utilized interchangeably across the portfolio. It includes a
reporting option that allows for results from specific user-defined
search criteria to be downloaded into Microsoft® Excel®
spreadsheets.
?The new PatentOptimizer Analytics tool helps users uncover
competitive insights for a given area of art, law firm or corporation
that were previously unavailable,? said Peter Vanderheyden, vice
president and managing director of Global Intellectual Property at
LexisNexis. ?Ultimately, this means faster, more complete and sound
decision making for users as they consider the best course of action for
their IP issues and an overall improvement in practice efficiency.?
PatentOptimizer assists attorneys in developing consistent,
concise and well-tailored patent applications. The product streamlines
patent analysis and helps serve as a critical quality control check when
drafting patents, thus mitigating legal risk and improving work
efficiency. Moreover, PatentOptimizer allows users to create
comprehensive reports that identify claim issues for both business and
litigation decisions, and assist them in making more informed decisions
regarding the management of their intellectual property.
Late last year, LexisNexis introduced semantic search technology for use
with PatentOptimizer. Semantic search, developed in alliance with
Dallas-based PureDiscovery?, sets a new standard in online patent
research. Semantic technology helps researchers discover additional
related concepts to consider in the course of their patent searching,
while providing them with clearer visibility and greater control over
the process.
