Yottaa and Zeroload announce 1st
International Web Performance Contest Launched to Help Speed up Web Sites
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. & PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Zeroload,
a web consultancy in Paris, France and Yottaa,
an innovative cloud computing company focused on web performance, today
announced the first international Web Performance Contest.
?Site performance has become an increasingly important factor to boost
conversion rates, influence search engine rankings and increase overall
user engagement?
The contest is launched at http://webperf-contest.com/,
starting from today and ends on Nov 30th, 2010. The contest
is open for participation. To participate, anyone can simply register at
webperf-contest.com as a contestant, download the real world webpage
example selected by the organizers, optimize the site, upload the
optimized site to webperf-contest.com at any time, and will be able to
see the optimization result immediately online. Winners will be decided
using open web performance measurement tools, as well as manual checks
by a selected group of judges.
?The growing importance of web performance is well documented, from the
fact that Google
now incorporates page load time into search engine rankings, to
Mozilla?s ability to increase Firefox downloads by 15 percent, simply by
decreasing load time by 2 seconds. Smart companies such as Google have
been using web performance as a competitive differentiator for many
years?, said Vincent Voyer, Zeroload's founder. ?However, many other
businesses have not fully realized how performance can be the secrete
sauce. We are organizing this first international web performance
contest to help more people take advantage of the opportunities enabled
by faster web sites?.
Contest Awards will be given on the following categories: Best Yottaa
Score, Best onload & start render, and smallest number
of requests & total size. Prizes are provided by contest
sponsors, including iPad, iPod, and technical books. The judges of the
contest include web performance experts such as Éric Daspet, Stoyan
Stefanov, Jean-Pierre Vincent, and Vincent Voyer. Other contest sponsors
include AlwaysData (a web hosting company providing both dedicated
server and shared hosting services) and Catchpoint Systems (a web
performance monitoring software company).
?Site performance has become an increasingly important factor to boost
conversion rates, influence search engine rankings and increase overall
user engagement?, said Robert Buffone, Yottaa?s co-founder and CTO.
?Speed is the differentiator. Performance is an opportunity. Better web
performance can result in better business performance. At Yottaa, we are
very glad to be able to contribute to the contest. Performance matters.
We see this contest is an important step in building up the web
performance community.?
