DEMO Conference Offers Student Innovators Opportunity to Launch Cutting Edge New Technologies via Scholarship

AlphaPitch for College Program, Sponsored by Alcatel-Lucent and the ng Connect Program, Offers College and University Students a Chance to Launch as New Companies at DEMO Fall

FRAMINGHAM, MA--(Marketwire) - DEMO, the world's leading launch conference for emerging technologies, today announced an exciting opportunity set to inspire innovation coming out of colleges and universities across the world. Via the new AlphaPitch for College program sponsored by Alcatel-Lucent and the ng Connect Program, individual students and groups have a chance to secure one out of 10 scholarships to launch products and concepts currently in alpha stage as a newly formed company at DEMO Fall 2011. The conference, which takes place September 12-14, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara in the heart of Silicon Valley, is widely known for bringing together the tech community's elite who attend to view the world's next big breakout technologies.

"As we strive to bring the DEMO experience to as many deserving technology companies as we can, we could not ignore the innovation coming out of our younger generation," said DEMO executive producer Matt Marshall. "As I have been making my way around the world meeting the brightest minds in technology, I have had the opportunity to hear and see amazing ideas and concepts from these students, so we decided what better way to celebrate that innovation than by providing them a voice on the DEMO stage."

Marshall will review and hand-select all AlphaPitch for College applications. Students selected to participate will receive:

  • ninety second pitch to the entire DEMO audience in the general session ballroom
  • kiosk space in the DEMO pavilion
  • two passes to attend DEMO
  • extensive promotional support on site and after the event on www.demo.com

"Innovation is what drives us and we look forward to the opportunity to help the next generation of innovators to get their ideas heard, their visions seen and their companies started," said Jason Collins, vice president, emerging technology & innovation for Alcatel-Lucent and ng Connect Program. "With our member companies in the ng Connect Program, we come together to build the next-generation connected experience and we look forward to being inspired by these pioneering students who will show us new possibilities."

All applications for the AlphaPitch for College program must be received by August 1, 2011. Applications may be submitted at www.demo.com.

DEMO is currently accepting general launch submissions as well. All interested parties should submit initial company information via the "Apply Now" button at www.demo.com. The deadline for applications is July 15, 2011.
