LongTail Video Launches Free OVP Pricing Plan

  • Provides Free Enterprise-Level Video Encoding, Streaming and Analytics for Publishers

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LongTail Video (www.longtailvideo.com), the leading provider of affordable, self-serve video solutions for web publishers, today announced a new, free pricing plan for its online video platform, Bits on the Run. With Bits on the Run Free, publishers will be able to get enterprise-level video streaming and management at zero cost.

?Our Free pricing plan gives publishers all of the benefits of an enterprise-level online video platform each and every month for no additional cost. This is a big win for publishers.?

?LongTail Video is committed to providing publishers with outstanding video tools at affordable prices,? said Dave Otten, co-Founder and CEO of LongTail Video. ?Our Free pricing plan gives publishers all of the benefits of an enterprise-level online video platform each and every month for no additional cost. This is a big win for publishers.?

Bits on the Run Freemium: How It Works

Under the new Bits on the Run Free plan publishers receive up to 5 GB of video streaming and 1 GB of storage every month at no charge. Publishers that outgrow the usage limits of Bits on the Run Free can upgrade to Bits on the Run Pro at any time. With the Pro offering, publishers use the system on a pay-as-you-go basis, allowing them to pay only for what they use, with no on-going contractual commitments. In addition, Pro users benefit from priority transcoding, premium support, and subaccount management useful for resellers or larger organizations.

Since LongTail Video?s acquisition of Bits on the Run, the service has grown rapidly. With Bits on the Run, Web publishers can deliver content to any web-based, mobile or set-top platform. Its flexible API can integrate with any CMS, website, desktop application or online service, making it publisher-friendly. Today, more than 10,000 publishers use it.

Today?s release of Bits on the Run Free follows LongTail Video?s recent release of LongTail.tv, a service that provides users with access to premium video content via LongTail Video?s Media Gallery. In the three weeks since it?s release, LongTail.tv has quickly gained the support of thousands of publishers.

?Outside of core player development, every release we execute is designed to enable publishers to make money through online video,? said Otten. ?Everyone knows that the video segment is the fastest-growing interactive advertising segment. But, the heavy lifting that this scale implies will be borne by publishers. Our technology enables more of them to stream more video than any other technology in the world in a self-serve, affordable way.?
