Go Daddy Teen Technology & Multimedia Center Fights Cyberbullying
Scottsdale Boys & Girls Clubs Receive $200K Donation for Anti-Cyberbullying Curriculum
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Go Daddy has launched a new and powerful tool in the fight against cyberbullies. Today, Go Daddy and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale, Ariz., joined together to officially dedicate the Go Daddy Teen Technology & Multimedia Center.
?We want to help teach young people how to deal with cyberbullies the right way?
Go Daddy donated $200,000 earlier this year to create the state-of-the-art technology lab and multimedia center that includes educational programs for kids to learn what to do if they, or someone they know, are being cyberbullied.
"We want to help teach young people how to deal with cyberbullies the right way," said Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. ?The things these anonymous tormentors say and do online can create a lot of grief. We believe giving kids the proper training and tools just makes sense, and we are happy to be in a position to help."
Online abuse is particularly difficult for teenagers. More than half of adolescents and teens surveyed said they have been bullied online at one time or another1. The problem is serious. Recent teen suicides have been traced to extreme cyberbullying.
?We are deeply vested in providing a safe environment for our youth," said Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale Senior Vice President Jeff Miller. "For years, Go Daddy has been working to keep the Internet safe. What Go Daddy has done with our program is provide the tools to help recognize cyberbullying and deal with it properly. It's so good, we are in the process of rolling it out throughout the organization. We think the program will make a difference in the lives of thousands of our youth."
Go Daddy is committed to making a difference in the community and has already donated nearly $5 million to charities this year. Go Daddy is the world?s largest provider of Web hosting, domain name registrations and net-new SSL Certificates. Go Daddy has testified before U.S. Congress many times about Internet safety, and helped create federal laws to protect children online and fight rogue online pharmacies.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale serves 16,000 children and teens through the organization?s nine branches and 12 outreach sites, and offers more than 100 youth development programs. The Boys & Girls Club staff and Go Daddy employees will work together to teach the anti-cyberbullying curriculum.
