The NIMBY Collective philanthropy uses upgraded ShadowMe app to cultivate community support
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tendy Apps? upgraded ShadowMe® for Twitter iOS app helps Twitter users to better organize and utilize the social network and the overwhelming amount of content it provides. ShadowMe is a discovery tool that allows Twitter users to ?shadow? people of interest to see exactly what they see in their personal Timelines. New features ? Group Shadow and Suggested Shadows ? enable users to further discover and digest content on Twitter.
?We know the power that social media and more specifically Twitter have to rally like-minded people to make a difference for the greater good, and it?s an honor to be part of that. ShadowMe takes it even further by simplifying the processes of relevancy, curation and discovery.?
The NIMBY Collective is using ShadowMe?s new Group Shadow feature to mobilize its large coalition of volunteers, donors, activists, celebrities, artists and fans. Originally inspired by the ?Not In My Backyard? documentary, The NIMBY Collective produces socially conscious entertainment to help serve shelters, soup kitchens and community centers. Longtime advocates of using entertainment and social media to rally forces for its philanthropic causes, the NIMBY team created a Group Shadow with the app to give their community an easy way to stay up to date on all NIMBY happenings. With the ShadowMe app, users can simply shadow @NimbyProject to see tweets from NIMBY and everyone involved with the charity, in one convenient, consolidated feed.
?At NIMBY we?re dedicated to improving organizations that serve so many ? the working poor, victims of domestic violence, runaways, the elderly and ill, displaced families, and veterans,? said Jacquelyn Aluotto, social activist and founder of The NIMBY Collective. ?As demand for these vital resources continues to rise, we are constantly looking for ways to garner support and awareness. Along with many of our celebrity members including actor Luis Guzmán and TV host Karl Champley, we use the ShadowMe app to help countless people in need by spreading our message and expanding our network of donors and volunteers in order to break the cycle of violence, poverty, and abuse in this country.?
?ShadowMe helps me better utilize Twitter to spread the word about the various NIMBY initiatives and its efforts to break the cycle of violence and poverty by educating, building and inspiring through the arts,? said Luis Guzmán, activist and actor well known for his work in more than 60 feature films. ?ShadowMe's Group Shadow feature allows my colleagues and me to share information about the project and consolidate tweets from everyone on the production team ? as well as their vast networks of volunteers and celebrity supporters. We are a dedicated but incredibly busy group, so any technology that makes it easier for us to keep up with our efforts is an enormous asset for us.?
?We are thrilled to see the ShadowMe app used to help galvanize support for The Nimby Collective,? said Ethan Duff, Co-founder of Tendy Apps. ?We know the power that social media and more specifically Twitter have to rally like-minded people to make a difference for the greater good, and it?s an honor to be part of that. ShadowMe takes it even further by simplifying the processes of relevancy, curation and discovery.?
The new Suggested Shadows, curated by experts and celebrities, do for Twitter what paid cable networks did for television: users get a variety of choices for streaming, high-quality content without clutter and noise. For example, if you're in the mood for comedy, simply click ShadowMe Stand Up (curated by comedian Ben Kronberg) and you see tweets from approximately 100 different comedians in one convenient, consolidated feed. NIMBY spokesperson and volunteer activist Luis Guzmán curates ShadowMe Movies, which offers a consolidated stream of movie-related tweets. ShadowMe Chick Lit is curated by New York Times best selling author Emily Giffin and ShadowMe DoItYrself is curated by home improvement expert Karl Champley. There are currently 60 Suggested Shadows to choose from including sports, entertainment, technology, fashion and business.
ShadowMe can be downloaded for free in the iTunes App Store at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/shadowme-for-twitter/id531411119?mt=8.
