NEWS FACTS:
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Affect, a public relations and social media firm specializing in technology, healthcare and professional services, and Strutta, an interactive promotions company offering an intuitive contest builder, today announced the launch of The New York Job Project (NYJP): a contest where one entrant will win a dream job working with one of the most coveted PR and social media agencies in New York.
?It?s exciting to see the contest continue to grow in its third year, and we expect to see many more exceptional applicants come through the program.?
Building on the success of the annual New York Intern Project, in which contestants competed for a paid summer internship, Affect initiated the job contest to encourage talented, aspiring PR and social media professionals to jump-start their careers. Interested candidates are welcome to submit a unique, compelling video or photo to the NYJP website describing why they are the ultimate candidate by April 12, 2013 at 3 PM EST.
?Last year?s New York Intern Project introduced us to a large number of great candidates who were incredibly enthusiastic about starting a long-term career in PR. We decided to increase the stakes this year by hiring a full-time employee, and expect this innovative approach to hiring will be both fun and rewarding,? said Sandra Fathi, president of Affect. ?This year we?re looking for candidates who are not only qualified for the position, but passionate about the industry and our company. We want entrants to use their PR and social media skills to rise to the top of the talent pool.?
Similar to last year?s contest, six semi-finalists will be determined by number of votes from the public and the top three finalists will be chosen by a panel of esteemed judges. This year?s judges? roster includes Tiffany Guarnaccia, senior director of communications at Huffington Post Media Group, Mark Ragan, CEO and publisher of PRDaily.com andRagan.com and Lea-Ann Germinder, president of PRSA-NY. Sandra Fathi, president and founder of Affect, and Katie Creaser, vice president of Affect, will round out the team of qualified judges.
The winner of the contest will receive a full-time, salaried position as an Account Coordinator at Affect and a moving stipend of $1,500. As an Account Coordinator, the winner will have the opportunity to contribute as a core team member on client accounts; support media relations and thought leadership initiatives; hone their writing skills on a variety of PR collateral; and work on social media programs.
Entrants can find additional details on the role and responsibilities, benefits and what it?s like to work at Affect on the Requirements page.
About the Contest
The New York Job Project is sponsored by Affect and powered by Strutta?s Social Promotions platform, which allows companies to create a campaign where users participate by uploading content such as videos, photos, audio or text. This format allows for easy sharing and voting.
?Strutta?s promotions builder was used previously for Affect?s New York Intern Project, which garnered more than 236,000 page views and a nearly 16,000 votes from people across the country,? said Ben Pickering, CEO of Strutta. ?It?s exciting to see the contest continue to grow in its third year, and we expect to see many more exceptional applicants come through the program.?
To enter The New York Job Project, candidates must upload a photo or video onto the contest website and then complete an online questionnaire. Candidate entries are then posted to the website, where fans can vote for their favorite entry. The public voting round will last six weeks, during which candidates can share their entries with friends on Facebook and other social media sites to solicit as many votes as possible. In addition, each judge will be allotted an additional 200 votes to distribute to their favorite contestants.
At the conclusion of the public voting round, six semi-finalists will be selected, who will go on to participate in video interviews with the judges. Judges will then narrow the field down to three finalists. The three finalists will be given an all expenses paid trip to NYC for a final round of interviews with Affect. The winner of the contest will be announced the week of April 29, 2013 and will start his/her new job before July 1, 2013.
