Tesco launches Easter marketing campaign with online Easter egg hunt
50,000 prizes up for grabs, including 50 Samsung Galaxy Tab 2
Tesco today kicks off its marketing campaign for Easter with the launch of
Find the Eggs, an online Easter egg hunt which uses Google Street View technology to allow players to explore their streets to find virtual Easter eggs.
As part of the game, thousands of virtual eggs will be hidden on streets across the UK on the Find the Eggs website. To take part, players can visit
www.tesco.com/find-the-eggs from a computer or mobile phone and use GPS or type in their postcode to begin their search. They can then navigate their way through their local streets to hunt down the virtual eggs which can be exchanged for prizes.
Once players have found three eggs they win a chocolate bunny, which can be claimed in store or online using a secure digital coupon. As well as chocolate prizes there are also some extra special golden eggs hidden ? lucky players who manage to track down one of the golden eggs will win a tablet computer.
Find the Eggs builds on the success of the Pull-a-Cracker campaign that Tesco ran at Christmas, which saw thousands of Twitter users pull a virtual cracker with friends.
Jude Brooks, Head of Social Communities and Insight, Tesco said: ?Our customers loved Pull-a-Cracker at Christmas, so for Easter we wanted to find another way to bring people together online to join in the fun."
"The Easter egg hunt is a much loved tradition and this year we?re excited to be giving it a digital twist. We hope that people from across the country get online and search for the virtual eggs hidden on their street and even hide some for their friends.?
Alongside the online activity there will be Easter egg hunts taking place in selected stores in the run up to Easter. A new 30 second television ad will air from 24 March and features a family settling down to enjoy an Easter lunch whilst the youngest focuses all her efforts on finding that final egg in a classic Easter egg hunt.
