Call for Participation Opens for ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference

COLLEGE STATION, TX--(Marketwired) - The Center for Minorities and People with Disabilities in IT (CMD-IT), which develops national-scale projects to ensure that underrepresented groups are fully engaged in computing and information technologies, has opened the Call for Participation for the ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference.  The conference will be held February 5-8, 2014 at the Grant Hyatt Seattle in Seattle, WA.  The Tapia Conference, which is one of the most diverse technical conferences in computing, brings together undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, researchers, and professionals to highlight the technical achievements and diversity that exists in the computing field.  The theme for the 2014 Tapia conference is the "Strength of Diversity," as the Tapia Conference celebrates the contributions to computing by members of broad and diverse communities. Further, the Tapia Conference uniquely supports and mentors diverse communities of students and professionals.

The Tapia conference seeks submissions from all areas of computing and that reflect the conference theme, "The Strength of Diversity."  Technical and professional development submissions are due by August 6, 2013.  Undergraduate and graduate students are highly encouraged to submit research posters and panel proposals. The Tapia Conferences are organized by the Coalition to Diversify Computing (CDC), sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and presented by the Center for Minorities and People with Disabilities in Information Technology (CMD-IT). The conferences are in-cooperation with the Computing Research Association (CRA) and the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE-CS).
