Securian?s group life insurance division offers large-employer clients a library of social media posts
ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--If 60 percent of workers check their social media accounts from their personal devices several times per day from work,1 why not use it for benefits communications? Securian?s group life insurance providers, Minnesota Life and Securian Life, make it easier for large employers to deliver HR information to employees with social media.
?The point is to send information to employees rather than expect them to seek it out?
?Using social media for benefits communication hasn?t gained full traction with most HR departments,? said Paula Bilitz, director, Group Life Insurance Marketing, Securian Financial Group, ?but we want to support employers in any way we can to engage and deliver value to their employees.?
The company created a sizable library of pre-approved group life insurance content that employers can share on their existing social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The library content is categorized by subject including:
- Enrollment
- FAQs
- The importance of life insurance
- General group life insurance topics
In addition, each employer?s dedicated marketing specialist will develop specific messages tailored to that company?s unique communication needs.
An infographic, Social Media and Benefits Communications, offers an overview at a glance, with data on employee use of social media, popular channels and how they differ, and the content formats the company provides.
?The point is to send information to employees rather than expect them to seek it out,? said Bilitz. ?When a company communicates on the employee?s terms, the message is more likely to be absorbed.?
Bilitz says the same philosophy was behind the introduction in February 2013 of a mobile-optimized website allowing employees to view details about their group life insurance benefits anytime, anywhere -- a first for the group life industry.
