"Jingdong is delighted that the launch of JDMEngine will help developers improve their efficiency, reduce costs and ultimately succeed in the market," commented He Gang, Jingdong's VP of Technology and Chief Scientist. "In addition, Jingdong's huge mobile user base and excellent mobile traffic can help our business partners increase the effectiveness of their marketing activities."
China is now the largest smartphone market in the world and mobile e-commerce has been one of the fastest growing segments in China's mobile Internet sector. With the launch of JDMEngine, Jingdong continues to expand the cloud services it offers to third-party developers and other business partners. Specifically, JDMEngine offers four primary cloud services for app developers:
- Cloud Push establishes stable and reliable connections between mobile ends to help developers with real-time push notifications;
- Cloud Analysis helps developers comprehensively analyze and explore user data on a real-time basis;
- Cloud Testing automatically tests mobile applications on measures of compatibility, stability, adaptability of their user interfaces, as well as the functionality of their customized scripts. It is currently available on hundreds of mobile phones models, including many of the most popular ones;
- URL Abbreviation makes it easier to share links by generating a shortened URL based on the longer original using a series of algorithms.
Jingdong launched JOS in May 2012, and three additional cloud services in June 2013. These include: JDHosting, a hosting service platform for vendors; JDEngine, a web application development and operation platform; and JDZone, an online developer community. Through these services, Jingdong has grown its cloud services scope into the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IAAS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PAAS) spaces. The Company will continue to provide more value-add technology services for its marketplace vendors, independent software vendors, individual developers and other business partners.
