SINGAPORE--(Marketwired) - InMobi, the world's largest independent mobile ad network, and Mindshare, the global media and marketing services network, have been awarded two top prizes at the 2013 Smarties? Awards Asia Pacific from the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA). The awards, for innovation and in-app advertising, are among the most prestigious awards in the marketing industry.
The MMA is the leading global trade association for the mobile marketing industry. The MMA Smarties awards recognize best-in-class mobile marketing executions from agencies, marketers, and other mobile providers.
InMobi and Mindshare Singapore won the highest, and only, award in the Innovationcategory for the campaign Celebrating Friendships with Ben & Jerry's. Designed for Unilever's iconic ice-cream brand Ben & Jerry's, the campaign enables users to upload a real-time photograph of them with a friend, using their mobile camera, and then view a timeline of friendships formed in Singapore, through an InMobi rich media ad. This is the first instance real-time camera access has been integrated into an ad unit, without requiring users to download an application. Users are rewarded by downloading a coupon to be redeemed for a free ice cream cone.
"We are delighted to receive the MMA Smarties award in the Innovation category with InMobi and Unilever. InMobi delivered a truly innovative campaign that seamlessly enabled users to celebrate their friendship alongside Ben & Jerry's," said Regina KC Lim, Business Director at Mindshare, Singapore. "The result was a campaign that pushed the envelope on creativity, innovation and great performance."
InMobi and Mindshare Malaysia won the highest award in the In-App Advertising category for the campaign Pac-Man returns with Superior Germ Protection. Designed for Unilever's medicated body wash brand Lifebuoy, the campaign uses themes from the popular arcade game Pac-Man where Pac-Man powers up with lifebuoy soap to attack the germs chasing him. The rich media ad unit was developed using InMobi Studio HTML5 ad-authoring platform.
"We aim to make our clients' brands more famous and profitable and InMobi's award-winning creative services team consistently delights us with their ideas and execution," said Shankar Rajagopal, Director, Client Leadership at Mindshare. "Our teams work closely together to conceptualize and deliver campaigns that combine gaming elements, technology and a clear call to action to engage users with brands. We look forward to continuing our winning association with InMobi."
Phalgun Raju, Vice-President and General Manager, India, Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, said, "We are honored to receive the MMA top prizes with Mindshare and Unilever. This latest recognition of our creative and innovative capabilities reflects our dedication to delivering engaging and high performance mobile advertising that helps brands achieve their marketing objectives."
