Twitter and Connected Women Launch #Twitter4Women in Collaboration With The Athena Network Singapore
SINGAPORE/PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of International Women's Day (8 March), a global day championing the economic, political and social achievements of women, Twitter, Connected Women and The Athena Network Singapore invite women from the local business community to join #Twitter4Women, a training program to power women in business.
The first #Twitter4Women workshop will take place in April, bringing together top digital strategists, business experts and technology influencers to deliver training sessions relevant to entrepreneurs and executives.
The launch of #Twitter4Women is part of the newly formed partnership to support growth and development within the female business and startup ecosystem in Asia Pacific.
"As we grow our international markets, we're very eager to work with female executives and entrepreneurs who are a major driving force for business and ideas in Asia. Together with Connected Women and The Athena Network, Asia Pacific's leading community for women, Twitter aims to provide technology education and training to support women in achieving their business goals." says Frederique Covington, International Marketing Director, Twitter.
Focusing on community, entrepreneurship and technology, #Twitter4Women will include presentations from top entrepreneurs, technology experts, and Twitter executives such as Christel Quek, Regional Content Lead at Twitter.
"We launched the Connected Women initiative in 2013 because we recognised the biggest challenge identified was lack of knowledge and training around the technology products and services available. Twitter is an incredibility powerful tool for small businesses and we'll be bringing together the best speakers and most experienced marketers to address needs of our community - and drive greater adoption by women led startups and SME?s in the region." says Gina Romero, Managing Director, The Athena Network Singapore.
Out of 108 aspiring entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs/business owners and professionals surveyed from the Connected Women community, 61% said they were interested in social media for business, 67% said they wanted to grow their online presence, 72% to grow they their client base, and yet only 45% were using Twitter.
"Twitter enables medium and small businesses to scale through real-time technology. For example, we help potential customers discover new businesses. And in a recent survey, 60% of respondents have made a purchase from an SMB based on something they saw on Twitter - and 86% say they plan to do so." -- Aliza Knox, Managing Director Online Sales, APAC
