Consortium Led By AGT International Announces Successful Completion Of Singapore Safe City Project
Internet of Things (IoT) city platform enhances Singapore's ability to protect citizens and manage urban infrastructure more efficiently
SINGAPORE/PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AGT International, a global leader in smart city solutions, along with O'Connor's, a leading provider of Engineering Systems Integration (ESI) services and Hitachi Asia, the regional subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd, the leading global electronics company, today announced the successful completion of the CityMIND 6.5 safe cities test project in Singapore. CityMIND 6.5 is a technology platform that uses a single, integrated approach based on unique analytics and the Internet of Things (IoT) to enhance public safety and help manage cities more efficiently. When fully-implemented, the CityMIND solution will improve the wellbeing of Singapore's citizens, while using technology to introduce efficiencies and allow intelligent decision making.
Cities are exactly where leveraging the IoT can enable dramatic improvements in the quality of life for all citizens in a myriad of ways such as real-time traffic management, environmental monitoring, healthcare and infrastructure enhancements. While Singapore is known for being one of the safest cities in the world, CityMIND provides many additional advantages for Singapore and its citizens as the city deals with rapid growth.
Singapore is uniquely positioned with its inherent safe city infrastructure. The CityMIND platform enables Singapore to facilitate knowledge-sharing among constituents, ensure real-time communications between government agencies and various parts of the city and engage urban stakeholders ? both public and private ? to work together in support of a common goal. The state-of-the-art, IoT solution fuses real-time situational information, alerting government agencies to unusual behavioral or event patterns and enabling decision makers to take swift action to deliver services and establish a proactive response plan. The advanced software converts data from a range of sources including smart sensors, social media and public databases into actionable information which is communicated via mobile devices and applications, helping first responders and citizens work together to better manage the city.
The consortium developed the CityMIND platform in partnership with the Singapore government, with AGT contributing its analytical platform to facilitate data sharing between agencies and apply advanced data analysis algorithms to create reliable and intelligent situational awareness. O'Connor's provided its systems integration expertise honed in the safety and security sector, while Hitachi delivered advanced video analytics technology, including facial image processing.
"CityMIND reflects the core mission of AGT, which is to harness the power of the IoT and relevant, public data to develop groundbreaking solutions that improve the quality of life for people around the world," said Mati Kochavi, CEO of AGT International. "With the world undergoing the largest wave of urban growth in history, decision makers are looking for new ways to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their citizens and manage increasingly burdened city infrastructures. CityMIND equips Singapore with a world-class solution that benefits its citizens and streamlines day-to-day operation of the city's vital infrastructure. This initiative in Singapore will undoubtedly serve as a model for other cities to follow."
"Singapore is famed as a melting pot of diverse cultures. The Singapore Safe City Test-bed programme successfully brings diverse networks of existing and new sensing devices and social media information together, showcasing how this new way of sharing data between agencies brings added value to each other," said John Ng, General Manager of O'Connor's. "This is undoubtedly the platform for the next generation of city management."
"EDB congratulates AGT, Hitachi and O'Connor's on the successful conclusion of the Safe City Test Bed. The companies have proven to be very forward-thinking in developing their solutions and are able to execute them well. I am confident that AGT Smart City Labs Singapore will be a valuable addition to the safety and security industry landscape," said Mr Gian Yi-Hsen, Director of the Safety and Security Programme Office, Singapore Economic Development Board.
"Hitachi Asia is proud to partake in this project as we continue to remain committed to smart city development. Our Social Innovation Business boasts extensive experience in achieving advance fusion of infrastructure with cutting-edge information and telecommunications technologies and know-how. Hitachi is here for the long-term as we believe we have a crucial role to play in Singapore's urban development," said Rick Lee, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Centre of Excellence, Hitachi Asia Ltd.
Through CityMIND, a number of key smart cities technologies were implemented successfully in Singapore, to identify traffic congestion and crowding, improve cleanliness by using sensors in trash bins to automatically signal when they need to be emptied, increase communications between first responders, authorities and citizens with specially-designed mobile device applications and raise awareness of relevant social media trends.
As part of its long-term commitment to Singapore and the smart city market, AGT International is also creating Smart City Labs Singapore, which will feature AGT's cutting-edge urban management solutions. The Lab will showcase how the Internet of Things (IoT), along with advanced analytics is creating groundbreaking solutions that improve the quality of life for urban citizens around the world.
