Palo Alto Networks Teams Up with Cyber Security Agency of Singapore to Strengthen the Nation's Cyber Defense

SINGAPORE/PRNewswire/ -- Palo Alto Networks® (NYSE: PANW), the next-generation security company, today signed a Memorandum of Collaboration with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) at the inaugural Singapore International Cyber Week 2016 (SICW). The SICW is built around the annual GovernmentWare (GovWare) cyber conference and exhibition, currently taking place at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The collaboration will enable the exchange of ideas, insights and expertise on cybersecurity between Palo Alto Networks and the Singapore Government. This will entail sharing of threat intelligence, industry education and national capability building, to help strengthen Singapore's cybersecurity posture.

Through the collaboration agreement, Palo Alto Networks and the CSA will share threat information that will be used as a basis to help develop an educational resource for outreach, training and awareness on cybersecurity and to ultimately help boost Singapore's national cyber defence.

To underscore its commitment to building a stronger security foundation in Singapore and the region, Palo Alto Networks today also announced the appointment of Mr. Khoo Boon Hui as the first Asia Pacific council member of the Palo Alto Networks Public Sector Advisory Council (PSAC). The council, comprised of elite, retired military and civilian officers, advises Palo Alto Networks on the cybersecurity challenges and technology needs of the world's governments, aimed at improving cybersecurity practices adopted by government institutions.

Mr. Khoo joins the PSAC with a wealth of senior leadership and Singapore government experience, concurrently serving as the Deputy Chairman of the Singapore Quality Award Governing Council, as well as the boards of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd, Certis CISCO, SingHealth, Ministry of Health Holdings and Temasek Foundation International. An Advisor to INTERPOL, Standard Chartered Bank (UK)'s Board Financial Crime Risk Committee and Singapore's National Cybersecurity Research and Development Programme, Mr. Khoo has also chaired the first two ASEAN Senior Officials' Roundtable on Cybercrime, held in conjunction with the RSA Asia Pacific and Japan Conference. He was President of INTERPOL from 2008 to 2012 and Singapore's Commissioner of Police from 1997 to 2010.

At GovWare, John Davis, Vice President and Federal Chief Security Officer at Palo Alto Networks, delivered an industry leader keynote speech on the Imperatives for Cybersecurity Success in the Digital Age, at the opening of the conference on Monday 10th October at 14:30 PM. Sean Duca will also deliver a speech on Cyber Threat Information Sharing on Wednesday 12th October at 14:15 PM.

This year, in addition to hosting a demonstration booth, Palo Alto Networks will be introducing a prototype of its first education drive, comprised of individual kiosks located within the GovWare exhibition hall.

Developed in conjunction with the CSA, each kiosk will focus on a different cyberthreat, including Ransomware, Mobile Security and Cloud Security, and will feature a demonstration and examples of how organisations can take steps to prevent cyberbreaches through the effective use of technology, processes and people. Showcasing the unique capabilities of the Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Security Platform, including its next-generation firewall, threat intelligence cloud, and advanced endpoint protection, the kiosks will individually demonstrate how the platform safely enables applications and prevents breaches across all stages of the attack lifecycle.
